Joanne C. Pickelman, 80, of Huntley, died peacefully in her home on February 19, 2022, with her husband and daughter by her side.
Joanne was born in Chicago on November 17, 1941, to parents Joseph and Catherine (nee Lambert) Blank. Joanne met John Pickelman while out dancing and the pair were married on June 14, 1980. Joanne had a tremendous love for animals and God. She was a compassionate and considerate woman who went out of her way to care for others. She loved to volunteer with animal shelters and rescues. Joanne and John had a special place in their heart for Rottweilers, and they raised and bred many together. When Joanne wasn’t with animals you could often find her in her garden. She was a wonderful woman who will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Joanne is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years, John Pickelman, her daughter, Celeste Minella, John’s daughter, Cheryl (John) Nolden, her brother, Joe Blank, her nephew, Joey Blank, her nieces, Samantha Blank, Jennifer Green, and Stephanie Blank-Chen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Bob (Diane) Blank, and Mike Blank, and her rottweilers, Heidi 1, Heidi 2, Gretchen, Otto, Mandy, Otsie, Elsa, and her favorite, Mickey.
