Obituary

Mary Berauer, 89 of Schaumburg, passed away at her home on Wednesday afternoon March 27, 2013 following a lengthy illness.

She was born August 31, 1923 in Kitzmiller, Maryland, the daughter of Frank and Jenny (Klemencik) Machek. She moved with her family at an early age to Chicago and when the Great Depression started moved with her mother and two sisters to Ljubljana, Slovenia where she was raised and educated. Following WWII she returned with her two sisters and mother and again joined her father in Chicago. She was united in marriage to John B. Berauer in April of 1950. The couple made their home in Chicago where they started their family. In 1969 they moved to Schaumburg. She was very supportive of her husband and her children’s activities. She was a very loving, kind and compassionate person whose style graced those around her. She took up oil painting at a young age, was a wonderful cook and enjoyed baking. She loved to travel, twice to Europe, visiting Yugoslavia, Austria & Germany, took many road trips throughout all of the United States and a six week trip to Egypt.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Berauer of Ann Arbor, Michigan, her son, John B. Berauer of Gilberts, her grandchildren, John-Paul & Jessicalina, and her sister, Pauline Machek of Grosse Pointe, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband, John and her older sister, Jenny Hudina.

Visitation will be held from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 1st at DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral & Cremation Service, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley, with a 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass, Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley.
