Obituary

Michael “Mike” Mariano of Fairview, TN went to be with his Heavenly Father on October 26, 2021, surrounded by his family.
Michael was born March 24, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Michael S. Mariano and Barbara Locigno Mariano Satala.
Mike grew up in Chicago in a large, loving, Italian family. He graduated from St. Patrick’s High School and after college, from the John Marshall Law School with a law degree. He spent 35 years in corporate law in the Chicagoland area.
For Mike it was always God, family and country and he believed that all lives mattered, including the unborn. He was involved in his church with bible studies, the Knights of Columbus, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, That Man Is You men’s program and pro-life events. Mike loved to travel and was always willing to try a new adventure, including white water rafting, certified scuba diver and “climbing” Mt. Whitney. Mike also had a great love of all animals and spent many years volunteering, rescuing, and finding homes for many homeless animals. But Mike was happiest when spending time with his family, whether playing with his grandchildren, one-on-one philosophical conversations, or one of the many birthday parties, holiday parties or summer barbeques.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his sister Mary Lu Vrlec and father-in-law Henry Fischer. He is survived by his wife Veronica Fischer; his children Michael (Lisa) Mariano and Marlaina (Jason) Currie; grandchildren Cailyn Currie, Gianna Mariano and Mikey Mariano; his stepfather George Satala; his siblings Grace Mariano (Richard Hagedorn), Dominic (Diane) Mariano, Barbara Flournoy (Frank Sullivan); mother-in-law Viola Fischer; and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many extended family members and friends.
A visitation will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Huntley, Illinois on April 9, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 10:00 a.m.
The service will be streamed live starting at 10:00am https://www.facebook.com/defiorefuneral/
