Patricia Duray

Obituary

Patricia Ann (nee McCool) Duray, died peacefully on April 16, 2022, in Huntley.
Pat was born in Melrose Park on March 12, 1949, to parents Robert and Nellie (nee Ray) McCool. While attending a VFW picnic in 1963 she met Dennis Duray and the couple was married on July 12, 1969, following his service in the United States Navy. Pat was a dedicated wife and mother, and loved to volunteer with her children, serving as Girl Scout Troop Leader and a team mom for many sports. Becoming a grandmother was one of the true joys of her life and she attended as many of her grandchildren’s events as she was able. Pat was an incredibly caring and sweet woman who welcomed her family and friends with open arms and strived to make the people around her feel comfortable. Pat will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Pat is survived by her beloved husband, Dennis Duray, her children, Denise (Dennis) Lee, Donna Bohon, and Dennis (Erin) Duray, her grandchildren, Ashley, Jonathan, Gabrielle, Nicole (Jacob), Jacob, Anthony, Jolie, Courtney, and Austin, her great-grandchildren, Connor and Maverick, her sister, Sharon (Jack) Hyde, and many nieces and nephews.

My deepest condolences as Aunt Pat was loved by many. She always had the most welcoming warm embraces when you saw her. Her laugh and smile lit up the room. She was wonderful, and caring. I remember as a kid visiting the house in Hanover Park, and how excited I always was to go see my cousins, and family. Playing horseshoe in the back yard, all the Dad's and Uncles drinking beer in the garage. All the Mom's and Aunts in the house getting food ready and laughing. They had the coolest water beds! She made the best Doritos salad for family parties. My memories of her will always remain, but she will be greatly missed. May she rest in eternal paradise until we meet again.
