Kent Shannon

Obituary

Kent Shannon passed away peacefully at home, Tuesday, April 19, 2022, the day of his 80th Birthday. Easter Sunday, he was surrounded by Family and Friends, cracking jokes, singing, and watching his beloved Cubs, buoyed by the ocean of love he created in his wonderful life. Kent was a funny, ebullient, generous and loving man and he will be greatly missed.
Beloved husband of Patti, the love of his life. He always said, “If she leaves me, I’m going with her.”
Beloved father of Kelley, Shane, Lisa, Brad and Ryan. Beloved grandfather to Jaxon, Reilly, McKenzie, Kylee, Lily, Sammy, Shea and Sean. Beloved son of James Robert Shannon, Elaine Kilbury Shannon and Charlene Shannon. Beloved brother to Thomas Shannon (Dawn), Lynne Kuntz (Doug) and Patrick Shannon (Carol). Beloved father-in-law of Dawn Shannon, Kaylene Shannon and Jessica Shannon. Dear uncle of Tynan Shannon, Erin Wilday, Kaelyn Winters, Ryan McCammon and Zachary McCammon.
Kent attended the Air Force Academy from 1964 to 1967 and served in the Air Force Reserves afterwards. He was most proud of his Air Force association and still kept in touch with his Squadron.
Kent started a company in the early 1970’s in the periodical subscription business employing hundreds of people while working diligently to ensure their success. He was ahead of his time in direct sales and marketing.
Besides his deep love of Family, he relished every minute of being on the golf course, doing daily crosswords and jigsaw puzzles.
Visitation will be Friday, July 8, 2022, from 4 p.m. to time of memorial service 6 p.m. at DeFiore Funeral & Cremation Service, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley, IL 60142.

I had the pleasure of working for Kent in the early eighties as a Manager at his periodical subscription business. I worked at both the Grandstand Pl. and the Division St. Locations. I still have pictures from the Swimming party that was held at your home on Lin Lor Ln. Kent was a true Gentleman and a great Role Model. He treated people with respect and did everything possible to ensure their success. My sincere sympathy to the family. Paul Hawkins A donation has been made to Ukrainian relief

Kent was a true family man, prioritizing family over everything else. Patti & Kent welcomed me into their family, not as a daughter-in-law but as a daughter. I am so grateful for the beautiful times and memories I had with Kent and the whole Shannon family! Much love, prayers and a plethora of eternal memories! ❤️
