Karla J. Dvorachek

Obituary

Karla J. Dvorachek, 79, of Huntley, died peacefully April 23, 2022, with her family by her side.
Karla was born July 28, 1942, the daughter of Glen and Eleanore Kraus. On February 14, 1970, she married Donald E. Dvorachek. She was an active member of First Congregational Church of West Dundee for over forty years. She enjoyed gardening and spending time working outside in her yard, taking care of her flowers and vegetables and participating in Garden Club activities. Karla enjoyed traveling and taking driving vacations with Don to visit family and friends around the country in places including Arizona, Florida, the Carolinas, New England and most recently Nashville. Her favorite place to vacation was Door County, WI. She was a great host and enjoyed cooking and baking. She loved playing cards and games, seeing plays, musicals, and watching the Green Bay Packers. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. Karla was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
Karla was unbelievably strong and courageous, and had an inspiring, positive attitude as she fought a breast cancer diagnosis three years ago, and all the treatments and surgery that came with it. When she learned her cancer returned recently, she was determined to fight it again.
She is survived by her husband, Donald, her children Eric (Stephanie) Dvorachek, and Elizabeth (Buster) Torrez and by her three grandchildren, Jack, Olivia, and Evander, and by her sister, Marilyn (Paul) Askari.
Karla was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be on Saturday April 30 from 9:00 – 11:00am at First Congregational Church in West Dundee, followed by a memorial service starting at 11:00 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Congregational Church of West Dundee, or to the Susan G. Komen organization.

Karla and I go back a long way, since our kids were babies. I will miss her, even though we haven’t visited of late. She was a bright, fun-loving person and always a joy to be with. Condolences to Don, Eric and Elizabeth and their families. God Bless.
