Michael Richard Laing, 79, of Huntley, Illinois passed peacefully on April 24, 2022.
Beloved Husband of Sharon M. Laing. Beloved Father of Michael A. Laing, Christopher Laing, Lori (Rob) Perez and Amy (Dan) Whalen.
Michael was a cherished Grandfather of Michael, Abby & Madeline Laing. Brandon & Justin Perez. Alexis Zick.
Beloved Brother to Stephen Laing, Vicki Laing & James Laing.
Michael was born August 29, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of James and Lorraine (McCabe) Laing.
He served in the United States Navy from 1961-1966 on the Ticonderoga.
He married his wife Sharon on March 4,1967 after meeting on the dance floor at Miller’s Pub and went on to have 4 beautiful children and 6 amazing grandchildren. He loved the Chicago Bears and was lucky to see them win ONE Superbowl in his lifetime! His greatest joy was being a grandfather.
Mike was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and friend who will be missed by all that knew him. He had a positive impact on everyone he met. A true heart of gold and the most selfless, genuine, kindest person you will ever know.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 30 at Galati’s Restaurant in Cary, IL. 5:30pm – 10:30pm.
Michael will be buried, a private ceremony, at Fort Sheridan National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to your local Veterans Foundations.

We are so sorry to hear of Mike's passing.
Mike will always be remembered as a dad for all the neighborhood kids. You always felt safe and lived around him!! He will always be remembered and missed!!!
My sincere condolences to the Laing Family. My kids (Madeline and Carroll Gagnier) grew up with them and referred to Mike as "Papa" Laing. He was a source of strength and kindness to all.
