Joseph F. Siblik

Obituary

Joseph F. Siblik, 81, of Huntley, died peacefully, May 7, 2022, with his family by his side.
Joe was born August 29, 1940, the son of Joseph and Frances (Kovarik) Siblik. Joe was a curious child, showing an early interest in gadgetry, golf and cars. His high school sports were swimming and golf. He attended Loyola University where he was a member of Alpha Delta Gamma fraternity. At that time, a Mundelein girl caught his eye – Kathleen “Kaye” Coyne. They dated for 3 years and married in 1964 after their graduations, knowing they were meant to be a team. Kaye knew he was the one, he was special.
Joe spent his career as an Educator. He taught math at Brother Rice High School and 5th and 6th grade math at Pottawatomie School in Hazelcrest. He was the Director of the State of Illinois Gifted Child Program. At times he was pulled into administrative roles, but he always went back to teaching. He was a teacher at heart.
As a welcome change from teaching, Joe worked 30 summers setting up carnivals. He loved driving the huge trucks and training the young employees in the carnie business.
Through the years, Joe and Kaye enjoyed 18 winters in Green Valley, Arizona, where they have deep friendships.
Joe and Kaye also loved antiques. Joe personally set up business in several antique venues. The most joyous of those was and is more than 30 years in the Geneva Antique Market where Joe specialized in antique boy’s toys. Joe was kind, strong and loving to all who knew him.
If Joe Siblik had to list what he cared about most, he would say “my family.” He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren, especially the love and caring they show to each other.
He was a kind and strong “gentle giant” who will be enormously missed.
He is survived by his wife, Kaye, his children, Jeff (Lisa) Siblik, Amy (Michael Fazio) Siblik and Kevin (Kelly) Siblik, by his six grandchildren, Ella, Jake, Audrey, Kyle, Brooke, and Reagan, his nieces Ann Kolar, Francine Skala, and Caitlin Miller, and his nephews Wally Katoll, Patrick Miller, Danny Miller, Kevin Miller, Liam Miller, and Sean Miller.
He is proceeded in death by his parents and sister, Ann Katoll.

I worked with Joe in the Geneva Antique Market for 20 years, he was always happy to educate a new dealer like myself with his vast knowledge in antiques. I loved his many stories of his youth and his wonderful sense of humor. He was our rock and we all will miss him terribly. Our heart breaks for his family. God Bless you all.

Even after many years, I feel the loss of Joe, whom I will always remember as one the sincerest, kindest people I've known. I still remember fondly many Easters and other special days with Joe and his family, my cousins. I shall always remember his warm smile, which was clearly inherented from his parents, My Aunt Frances and Uncle Jake, who both had smiles with the same warmth. The years have been too many but the memories haven't faded. I wish I could have seen Joe one more time. He IS one of a kind and will no doubt be missed by many.

My sincere condolences to the entire family and to Kevin. I lost my mother and my father in law in the span of 6 months several years ago and words cannot describe the many emotions that come with an event like the passing of a parent. May Joe rest in peace.
