Jerome A. Cieciwa, age 83, of Huntley, Illinois and formerly of Arlington Heights, Illinois, passed away on May 17, 2022 at age 83. Jerry was born on March 10, 1939 in Chicago to Adam and Helen Cieciwa.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Judy, whom he married in 1966; his loving and supportive family: son Jim (Wendi), daughters Kristin (Wayne) and Lori (Jeremy), 8 amazing grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jessica, Ryan, Lincoln, Quinn, Matthew, Camryn and Laine, his sister Claudia (late John), many nieces and nephews and dear friends. He graduated from University of Illinois and DePaul and served proudly with the U.S. Army. Jerry worked in Finance at Abbott Labs for 29 years and taught at College of Lake County and Harper College for 15+ years.
Jerry enjoyed hiking, traveling, telling a story and sharing a bottle of fine red wine. His favorite trips were to Rome and Glacier National Park. He was an avid member of the Model Train Club in Sun City and was an officer of various other clubs including the Anglers Club. He had a knack for numbers and could often be found in his home office working on spreadsheets while playing classical music. Jerry also had a soft spot for dogs, Kermit was his favorite.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley IL 60142. Funeral Mass is immediately following at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jerry’s name to Misericordia Home (misericordia.com) or Grafton Food Pantry (graftonfoodpantry.org), Huntley. Friends and family may visit defiorefuneral.com to express their condolences and sign the guest book.

We got to know Jerry well as part of the Sun City sportsman‘s club. As our treasurer, Jerry made sure everything was in order at all times. I appreciated his sense of humor and good nature. Jerry will surely be missed by all.
