Obituary

Diane (Schmidt) Roster 70, of Sun City Huntley, Illinois, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2013.

Diane was born in Madison, South Dakota, to Harry and Ferne Schmidt on February 9, 1943. She married Richard Roster on October 2, 1965. After obtaining a B.S. degree in Elementary Education, Diane spent her professional career teaching students and directing a student learning center. Her passion for the educational development of young people was demonstrated in her commitment to advancing technology and cutting-edge teaching methodologies in the learning center. Diane will always be remembered for her radiant smile and her loving and caring nature which she shared freely with others throughout her entire life.

She is survived by her husband Richard of Huntley, her daughter Kimberly Penny and grandson’s Michael & Nicholas Penny, all of Lake Zurich, Illinois. She is also survived by her sisters, Karen Peterson & Dr. Sandra Bunkers of South Dakota and Pamela Dahlmeier of Arizona, a cousin Janine Steffer of Minnesota, plus many nieces & nephews. Diane was preceded in death by parents, brother Douglas, and grandson Alexander Penny.

A memorial gathering will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26th with a time of sharing at 6:30 p.m. at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral & Cremation Service, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A Memorial Mass will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 27th at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights.
