Obituary

Mario A. Cima, 85, passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022, after a tough battle with lung cancer.
Mario was born in Chicago on August 1, 1936, and grew up in Island Lake. He graduated from Trine University and received a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering.
Mario was an artist and engineer, a husband and father, as well as a papa. He was quiet, wise, thoughtful, and generous. He loved Johnny Cash, the Lake House, the Chicago Cubs, and most importantly his family and friends.
Mario is survived by his two children Mario (Debbie) J. Cima, and Cynara (Todd) Cima Pierzina, and six grandchildren, Nathan Cima, Maddie Cima, Jackson Pierzina, Ellie Pierzina, Cole Pierzina and Annie Pierzina.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Jean Katherine Cima in 2012.

The memorial service will be Thursday, June 16, 2022, at 7 p.m. all at Bethany Lutheran Church, 76 W. Crystal Lake Avenue, Crystal Lake.
Inurnment Service will be Saturday, June 18 at 11 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1111 N. Elmhurst Road, Prospect Heights.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mario’s name can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Marty and Cynara, I am so grateful that my parents, John & Eileen Gruber, had Marty and Jean as next door neighbors. They made my parents feel so welcome in the neighborhood. Condolences to you and your family.
