James Roxworthy

Obituary

James “Jim” Roxworthy, 87, of Huntley, IL formerly of Lac du Flambeau, WI died on July 9, 2022.
Jim was born in Lake Forest, IL on January 22, 1935, to parents Thomas and Georgine (nee Thompson) Roxworthy. He married his high school sweetheart Barbara Daley on October 22, 1955. Over the years they lived in Alaska while he served in the US Army, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin. This past year they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Jim enjoyed having family and friends visit their home on Moss Lake in Lac du Flambeau. Jim loved a good cigar while watching the Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks, playing cards, fishing, riding his John Deere or taking his grandchildren for endless tube rides around the lake. After a snowmobile ride in the Northwoods, Jim loved a roaring fire from his leather chair with his puppies close by. Jim was devoted to his family, who affectionately referred to him as “Grumpa”. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Roxworthy, his children, Michael (Pam) Roxworthy, Cindy (Michael) Malloy, Richard (Heather) Roxworthy, his daughter-in-law, Cindi Roxworthy, his 10 grandchildren, his 15 great-grandchildren, his siblings, Patricia Rydin, Dennis (Laurie) Roxworthy, Donald (Jo Ellen) Roxworthy, and his sister-in-law, Nancy Roxworthy.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Roxworthy, his brothers, Thomas and William Roxworthy, his brother-in-law, Russell Rydin and his sister-in laws, Dorothy and Connie Roxworthy.
