Helene Meixner, age 85, passed away on August 20, 2022, surrounded by her loving husband, children, and grandchildren.
Helene was born January 3, 1937, in Bolos, Yugoslavia the daughter of Anton and Margaret Toni. She happily married Robert Meixner on September 5, 1964, they would celebrate 58 years of marriage this September. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
Helene was a member of the Donauschwaben Society of Chicago for over 70 years. She was in the first Jugengruppe, where she began her love of dance. As part of the Frauengruppe, she enjoyed baking thousands of Christmas cookies each year for the club bake sale. She was devoted to her Catholic Faith and her favorite hobby was shopping!
Helene is survived by her husband, Robert Meixner, her daughters, Linda (Edward) Cholewa and Karin (Hank) Stawski, by her grandchildren, Madeline (Ryan), Tim, Emily, and Andrew.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father and brother, Johan.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2022, from 2-5pm at DeFiore Funeral Home -10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A second visitation will be held on Monday, from 9-10am at the funeral home and then proceeding to St. Mary Catholic Church-10307 Dundee Road, Huntley for a 10:00am Mass. Burial will be private at Mary Hill Cemetery.
