John R. Cortese, 79, died peacefully on August 19, 2022, in McHenry surrounded by loved ones.
John was born in Chicago on March 28, 1943, to parents John and Rita (nee Boland) Cortese. He married Kathleen Barone on January 23, 1981, in Palatine. John was completely devoted to his family, and nothing brought him more joy than being a father and a Papa. He absolutely adored his wife and daughter, Christin, and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for them. John was very active and spent much of his time outside. He enjoyed biking, boating, snowmobiles, and being in the water. He loved to ride his Harley Davidson and went to Sturgis several times with his friends. He was a hard worker and incredibly dependable. He was always there for his friends and family and when he loved, he loved hard. John will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy Cortese, his daughter Christin (Michael Grebenick) Cortese, his grandson, Harley Grebenick, his sister Ruth Ann Brody and several Nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Thomas (Lana) Cortese, and many beloved family dogs.
