Reginald Kennedy

Obituary

Reg Kennedy, 79 of Huntley, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Reg was born in Chicago on November 18, 1942, to parents Edmund and Ruth (nee Reid) Kennedy. Reg married Cheri Luzietti 58 years ago on March 14, 1964.
He retired from Allstate in 1997 as a Computer Programmer after a 32-year career, well-before computers were a household item. Reg was a proud member of AA since 1979, forming a life-long bond with his ‘step-brothers’.
He had a passion for photography both behind the camera and as a mentor to others. Second only to photography was his love of reading with Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter as some of his favorite collections. He was an avid golfer and was very involved with their community tennis club, creating lasting friendships. Reg also enjoyed birdwatching, RV’ing and of course, the sun of Florida where he wintered with Cheri for the last 19 years. Florida offered him the ability to play golf, volleyball, and tennis year-round.
In his memory, Reg would love for you to sit-back and savor your favorite chocolate chip cookie.
He was devoted husband to Cheri Kennedy, a loving and proud father to his two daughters Lora (Michael) Anderson and Lisa (Mark) Binder, and a caring and supportive grandfather to Delaney (Logan) Kinstner, Chase Anderson and Mitchell Anderson. Last year, he became great-grandfather to Jack Kinstner.
Visitation will be Friday, September 2, 2022, from 4 p.m. to time of memorial service at 7 p.m. all at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital Cancer Center.

Spent many fun hours on the tennis court with Reg, and many more in the tennis hut trying to figure out how to improve the league. Reg will be missed by the community. I’ll say a prayer for his family.
