Obituary

Jeffrey Roy Chapin, 63, of Chicago and formerly of Rockford, Elgin, Lake in the Hills, and Carpentersville, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly August 26, 2022.

Jeff grew up in Carpentersville and graduated from Dundee Community High School in 1976. He was an Eagle Scout with Troop 32 sponsored by the IOOF lodge of Carpentersville. As a scout, he attended the Philmont Scout Ranch as well as a national jamboree. As an adult, his career focused on the video gaming arcade world. He managed and designed several family-oriented gaming locations including stores for Aladdin’s Castle, Dave and Busters and lastly, with Chuck-e-Cheese. He retired as the operational and technical manager for Chuck-e-Cheese, Asia and opened the first store in Guam.

Jeff was an amateur radio operator with a General License, assigned the call signs were KA0UOU and NH2IE. He also was active in the Citizen Band frequencies, using the call sign Tangerine Dream. He enjoyed science fiction, paintball, the macabre and weird, and founded the Facebook page, Jeff’s Doll House.

He is survived by his loving children Jeremy (Jacquelyn) Chapin, Jennifer (Robert) Wenc and Jacqlyn Chapin; beloved granddaughter Mia Chapin; dear siblings James R. (Mary) Chapin, Melissa Chapin and the late Karen L., Katherine L., Thomas M. and Timothy M. Fond uncle and friend to many.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 8, 2022, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.

I only knew Jeff through Facebook but I loved talking to him, he gave me some great advice more than once. He was a great man and I'm heartbroken that he passed, I really miss him. My condolences to his family, my Prayers are with you all.

I just heard the news from an old classmate. so sorry to hear. I can remember swimming in the pool at the old house in cville. he was a excellent human being.
