John Kemp, 81, of Huntley, passed away at Journey Care in Barrington on the morning of September 18, 2022.
John was born in Chicago on October 13, 1940, the son of Lucien Edward and Leona Grace (nee Tiefenthaler) Kemp. John was a member of the 1958 graduating class of Lake View High School. A graduate of Northern Illinois University, John managed the accounting and financial business for several automobile dealerships in the Northwestern Chicago suburban area.
John married Carol Maryanne Frenzel on February 24, 1962. They welcomed their daughter, Pamela Kemp, into their lives in 1962. They enjoyed traveling in their motor home and took several cruises. They often visited John’s parents at Robert’s Lodge,the fishing resort they owned in Sioux Narrows, Ontario, Canada.
In 2000, John and Carol moved from Arlington Heights to Sun City in Huntley. They enjoyed their new home and Sun City activities. John was a proud member of the Sun City Railroad Club and was a frequent volunteer at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union.
John and Carol were married for 52 years, until Carol’s death in May 2013.
On December 21, 2015 John married Lois Madson. John and Lois have enjoyed their families, traveling, and continued to live in Sun City in Huntley.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Lois Kemp, his daughter, Pamela Jeanne Kemp, Lois’s children, Barry (Mary Jo) Kreuzer, and Chandra (John) Hampson, his grandchildren, Amanda, Anthony Sr., Thomas, Charles, Nicholas, Megan, Davis, and Chloe Noel, his great-grandchildren, Tristan, and Anthony Jr, and John’s caregiver and close family friend, Michelle.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Kemp, his parents, and his siblings, Sandra Jeanne Kemp and Duane Edward Kemp.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 15, 2022, from 11 a.m. to time of memorial service 12 p.m. all at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.
