Suzette Lambert

Obituary

Suzette Lambert was taken from us by Covid at the age of 82 on Thursday, November 17, 2022. A much-loved wife, mother, sister and Grandma, Suzette is survived by her husband of 64 years, Alan Lambert, her brothers Tim and Richard Walker, her son Jonathan and partner Lynn, her daughter Claire, and her grandchildren Maddox, Elizabeth, Makenzie, Jamison and Sean.
Sue was born in Sheffield, England, and met her to-be husband Alan at a dance hall at the age of 16. After many happy times sneaking lipstick out of the house and dancing the night away to the Four Freshman and the Five Trombones, Count Basie, and many other hitmakers of the day, they married two years later. After years in England, they moved to Canada and then the United States. They recently moved from Pittsburgh to Chicago.
Sue spent her life caring for others – her brothers, her mother, her mother-in-law, and of course her husband, children and grandchildren. She was active in many groups over her life, including the Daughters of the British Empire and the Five Rivers Bobbin Lacemakers. She was a determined force to be reckoned with, a wonderful baker, a knitter, a home maker in every sense of the word, a creator, a lace and needlepoint artist, and her husband's everything. She was always humble and self-deprecating but so proud of everyone else. She was as straight as an arrow and never held back on what she thought or how to do things properly. She had a ready wit, a loving and kind heart, and will be sorely missed by us all. There really are not enough words to express our loss.
While no formal funeral service will be held at this time, the family will be holding a celebration of life event in the new year in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Further details about this event will be forthcoming on Facebook and via email. Please let Claire Rutkowski (clairelrutkowski@yahoo.com) or Jonathan Lambert (jwl1643@yahoo.com) know if you wish to be notified.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you take a moment to think of Sue and all she brought to your life. Play a little jazz or swing and have a quiet cup of tea in remembrance. If you need any inspiration, her very favorite album can be found here: Four Freshmen and Five Trombones https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lddMu0z6jZQ) And please leave your condolences and messages at www.defiorefuneral.com.

Dear Alan, Claire, Jon and all the family - I'm so very sorry and shocked to hear this sad news. Vera, in Sheffield, was so close to Suzette and through her and my Aunt Lorna, I came to know Suzette and Alan myself. Very happy memories of times together in Sheffield. My love and prayers for you all and condolences at your loss. I will be having that cuppa and thinking of her with gratitude for her life!
