Obituary

Dorothy S. Litwin, 97 of Algonquin, died peacefully December 4, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Albert J. Litwin.
Dorothy was born October 14, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Merton and Bertha Sapero. She married Albert on April 1, 1951. As a loving wife and mother, she raised her four sons.
She was a pioneer in many fields, starting with working at the first TV station in Chicago in 1945, starting Centre East in Skokie, helping create the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie, and founding Huntley Community Radio. She is survived by her four sons, Jim (Doris) Litwin of Venice, FL, Doug (Jacque) Litwin of Sausalito, CA, Sandy Litwin of Des Plaines, IL, Marty (Karin) Litwin of Algonquin, IL. She is survived by her grandchildren: Kendall, Brian, Matthew, Laura, Emily and Ben, and great granddaughter Amelia.
A Remembrance and Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday January 21 at 11am CT at DeFiore Funeral Home in Huntley. A burial service will be held on Sunday January 22 at 11am CT at Memorial Park in Skokie. Both events will be live streamed online for those who can’t make it in person.
