Obituary

Phyllis Mae Ewert, 93, died peacefully, December 8, 2022.
Phyllis was born November 6, 1929, the daughter of Louis and Vera Ermel. On August 25th, 1951, she married Melvin Ewert. They met, made their first home, and started their family in Norfolk, Virginia where Melvin was stationed in the Navy.
Phyllis was a Real Estate Broker for over 40 years in the Fox Valley area. She also worked for the Kane County Department of Transportation as a Right of Way Agent. She held many other notable positions in her working life. Phyllis was the first female mail carrier in Carpentersville, IL. Other jobs included working at Huntley High School as a secretary and at Hodges West Side Truck Center.
Phyllis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. Later in her life she moved to Huntley Del Webb. She loved playing cards and especially enjoyed playing pinochle. She was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Huntley and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
She is survived by her children, George Ewert and Cindi (Don) Cook; four grandchildren, Scott (Kristen), Jana, Matthew (Amber) and Aimee (Kyle); four great grandsons, Bryan, Elijah, Knollyn, and Finnley; and by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death her husband, Melvin, daughter-in-law, Michele, her parents, Louis and Vera Ermel, and siblings, Julie, Louie, Fred, Ron, Marilyn, Paul, and infant sister.
Please join in celebrating Phyllis’s life with a visitation held on Thursday, December 15, 2022, from 4-8pm at DeFiore Funeral Home at 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Huntley at 12 Noon. The burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Cemetery in Elgin following the service. Flowers are welcome and may be sent to DeFiore Funeral Home at 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. Any contributions in memory of Phyllis may be made and directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, Huntley.

Phyllis was a wonderful very giving person. Never did I hear a mean or hateful word come from her. I think there are two words that best describes Phyllis Love & Respect she will be missed!!!!!
