Gerene A. Mecozzi, 87, of Huntley, died peacefully on Saturday, December 31, 2022, in Barrington.
Gerene was born in Peru, Illinois on February 19, 1935, to parents Virgil and Eileen (nee Hockings) Chapman. She married Gerald Mecozzi on September 8, 1956, and the couple lived for many years in Mount Prospect before relocating to Huntley.
Gerene will be remembered for her love of family and home. She was an excellent cook, baker, and homemaker. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a wide smile, and an infectious laugh. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, who will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Gerene is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Gerald Mecozzi, her children, Marsha (Michael) Schultz, Thomas (Leslie) Mecozzi, and Gregory Mecozzi, her grandchildren, Jessica (Tim) Doebler, Matthew Schultz, Charles Mecozzi, and Henry Mecozzi, and her brother, Jack (Imelda) Chapman.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 5, 2023, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.

Saddened by the loss of your always kind sweet Mom, Marsha. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. May you be comforted by all the wonderful memories you have of your Mom. She certainly leaves a beautiful loving family as her legacy.
