Mary Smrt, 62, of Marengo, died on December 30, 2022, in Columbus, Ohio.
Mary was born in Berwyn, Illinois on November 2, 1960, to parents Thomas and Mary (nee Rose) Smrt. Mary was a generous and loving mother and friend. She enjoyed laughing and being with her family and dogs. She was the ultimate Disney fan, and especially loved Winnie the Pooh, Genie, Hercules, and Stitch. She enjoyed collecting jewelry and adding charms to her Pandora bracelet. She was a strong woman and a hard worker, who enjoyed being on the farm. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Mary is survived by her sons, Sean (Asra Hassan) Smrt and Thomas Smrt, her brothers, Tommy (Frankie) Smrt, Johnny (Kristen) Smrt, and Michael (Debbie) Smrt, and her dogs, Sydney, Maggie, and Brownie.
She was preceded in death by many beloved dogs, including JoJo, Angel, and Liza.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 14, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. all at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.

My heart goes out to Mary’s family and friends. I was blessed to have her in my life for 22 years. She was my best friend and I will miss her so much.
