Mimi F. Geiger

Obituary

Mimi F. Geiger, 75, of Huntley, passed away peacefully January 18, 2023 surrounded by family.
Mimi was born November 6, 1947, the daughter of Thomas and Florence Yapelli. On July 1, 1967, she married James M. Geiger. The couple met on a blind date and have been together ever since.
Mimi was an amazing, vibrant person who lit up a room just by walking in. She was charismatic and made her hard work look effortless. She will be remembered for her unconditional love for family & friends, masterful cooking skills, tenacity in business, and ceaseless ability to make others see the greatness in life.
She started her career at Tupperware and only as Mimi could do, she excelled and went on to work for United Airlines where she remained for 20 years until her retirement. Mimi then became a realtor and true to her nature was incredibly successful and enjoyed her job.
Always active she was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, and a member of the Huntley Area Lions Club.
As a wife, mother, and grandmother she was the best that there could be and loved her time with her children and grandchildren. To know Mimi was to know love. Her family will devote the remainder of their lives in honor of her memory by following her tremendous example in all that they do. Making her proud was truly a gift.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Geiger, her children, Jessica Divelbiss and Jim Geiger Jr, by her grandchildren, Kaela, Luke, Joey, Mary, Christopher, and Stella. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Cassandra, Thomas, John, Maria, Jennifer and by many cousins.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 23, 2023, from 4-8pm at DeFiore Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, 10am at St. Mary Catholic Church. Our deepest sympathy sympathy to Mimi's family. We met Mimi about 16 yrs ago when she found & sold us our Huntley home. This past June she sold that same home for us. Mimi was always a joy to work with. Always soft spoken, smiling, caring, giving & the ultimate professional. Her untimely passing is a tragedy for all who had the pleasure of knowing her. To the extended Geiger family, we have you all close in our thoughts & prayers. May your many memories sustain you & bring you comfort & peace in the coming days. Hugs, Peg & Heinz Brauner

I didn’t know Mimi, but I know her amazing daughter. From what I am reading, Jess is a replica of her mother. She is amazing, bright, driven, kind, funny, thoughtful, and delightful!! Jessica’s heart is broken but time heals! She has a personal guardian angel now and nothin can top that! I love you Jess. Miss you Mimi

The world is a little less bright today. I met Mimi the first day of high school and we have maintained a friendship for 63 years. She was my go to girl. My heart aches for Jim and the family. People have used so many diffident wonderful adjectives to describe her and they are all accurate. I will miss her every day. God has a very special angel now. Sending love to Jim and the family during this difficult time.

I sometimes can't understand what the big plan is for God. Sometimes he just takes our loved ones too soon. I worked with Mimi at United and was always impressed by her cool and calm demeanor. Oh yes, we would get a "good one" and go in the breakroom and laugh and laugh. You helped me during a horrible time in my life and told me to call anytime day or night. I think you might have regretted that one. But, you would always pull me through. I know my heart is bleeding over your loss and your family must be devasted. My comfort is your memories and I hope it brings some solace to your family. Until we meet again my friend.
