Eileen M. Gruber, 93, of Huntley, formerly of Des Plaines, died peacefully January 20, 2023 at her home.
Eileen was born June 9, 1929 the daughter of Peter and Marie Speiser. On November 6, 1954 she married John Gruber. She worked as a tax preparer for H & R Block for many years and later as the Director of Ministry of Care at St. Stephen's Church
She was a member of the Sun City Garden Club and of the Celtic Club. Eileen loved people and was always pleasant to be around. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Donna (late Paul) Roche, John (Nancy) Gruber, Jeannie (John) Jobst, her grandchildren, Paul, Beci, Debi Tom, Michael, Sr. Maria Sophia O.P., Jaclyn David, Nicholas, Rebecca and by 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her two brothers, Jim (Yvonne) Speiser and Jack (Rita) Speiser, brother-in-law, Bill Riley. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John, sister, Jean Riley and brother, George.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 9:00am until the time of the 10:00am Mass all at St. Mary Catholic Church-10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Dominican Sisters of St. Cecelia in Nashville, TN.

I am so sorry for your loss. Eileen was such a sweet lady and a pleasure to know. Although it has been a very long time since I saw her walk up and down the block, I missed seeing her sweet smile and saying hello.
