Obituary

Lucas J. Palermo, Sr. 81, of Huntley, died peacefully, February 25, 2023, at his home with his family by his side.
Lucas was born October 3, 1941, in Chicago, the son of Joseph and Frances Palermo. On November 2, 1963, he married Geraldine Klepacki. He worked for Sears Roebuck Co for 35 years as an appliance service technician. Lucas was "Mr. Fix it" and could fix anything, he enjoyed time in his garage and was always very organized. He was in the Sun City Bocce Club and was an avid Cubs fan. During his thirty-five years working he worked very hard and enjoyed his work and later, once he retired, he found great pleasure in being retired. He was a loving husband, father, brother, papa, great grandfather, uncle and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine, his sons, Joseph (Diana) Palermo, Russ Palermo, and Lucas, Jr. (Lanita) Palermo, by his nine grandchildren, Savannah (Brian), Kyle, Shannon, Michael, Jake, Tiffany (Matt), Andrew (Kirsten), Frank, and Seth, 7 great grandchildren, Lucas, Hailey, Raymond, Trace, Tyler, Elliott and Avery. He is also survived by his sister, Teresa (Walter) Nekyha and sister-in-law, Barbara Palermo.
Lucas was preceded in death by his parents and by his twin brother, Anthony.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, from 4-8pm at DeFiore Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. There will be a second visitation on Thursday at Church from 9am until the time of the Mass. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 2, at 10am at St. Mary Catholic Church-10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, River Grove.

Uncle Luke was such a kind, gentle and loving man. He always had a smile for me. I will miss him greatly but take comfort that he is with my Dad again.
