Obituary

Joan M. Butenschoen, 92, died peacefully, March 11, 2023 with her family by her side.
Joan was born February 9, 1931, in Chicago, the daughter of Edward and Leona Deegan. For many years she owned and operated her own beauty salon. She was an avid golfer and bowler. She was creative and was an artist and enjoyed painting. She enjoyed miniature snickers right out of the freezer, cheese puffs, along with roses and all flowers. Joan’s creative and caring spirit will be missed by all who know her.
She is survived by her children, Sandra (Eddie) Milligan, Gail (Robert) Frank, Wilferd (Julie) Lindsey, Wendy (JD) Wagner, Wayne Lindsey, Jo (Tom Kusisto) Hedges, by her step children, Michael Butenschoen, and Susie (Clyde) Kendzora, by 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, she is also survived by her brother, Dan (Arlene) Deegan and sister, Ruth Beck, and by many nieces and nephews.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, her son, Jeff, step daughter, Penny, her daughter-in-law, Susan and grandsons Adam and Brandon.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, from 10am until 12:00 at DeFiore Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. Graveside services will be at River Valley Memorial Gardens.
