Ruthanne, it is so difficult to express how sorry we are to hear of the death of your brother David. We would like to convey our deepest sympathy to you and to all of your family in your great loss.
David was such a sweet, kind, intelligent, generous man. He touched the hearts of all of us friends in San Francisco. I know he went home so recently to spend some time with his mother and I was wondering how she was doing. Thank you for including that sad news. We all miss him terribly and are planning a remembrance for him in SF. We miss him so much.
With deep, fond, heartfelt memories of David, I add my condolences and feelings of loss. We'll miss him, but he'll always be with us. Such a unique and special person. What a treat to have known and loved him. Jeanne - New College Class of 1964
My thoughts go out to his family. David was such a kind spirit. Sorry to hear about his passing!
R.I.P. David, you were a great man.

You will always be in the thought! We miss you David! The sweetest and great friend and coworker!
Rest in peace, Dave, You were a good friend and teacher, and an outstanding example of how to live life.
still thinking of David.....he made a deep impression on me when I first met him at New College in 1964, and his absence will leave a great gap at our 50th reunion next October, where we will commemorate David and the others who have passed on. David was such a special person and contributed so much to the lives of others. I hope his cats found a new home.....
New College, 65. David's spirit of independence and compassion, the soul of what NC was and still is. We all so hoped to see him, have him share his films and stories at the upcoming reunion this fall for the Charter Classes. I am forever grateful for his gentle, curious, and generous presence.
David funded and initiated my publication of THR EAST CAMPUS OTHER at New College in 1967 and was best man at my wedding. I remember his gentle humor, progressive politics and deep understanding of the history of cinema.
