Robert "Bob" Hanson, 87, of Huntley, died on Friday, April 14, 2023, in his home.
Bob was born in Chicago on March 18, 1936, to parents Walter Rudolph and Ruth (nee Lindholm) Hanson. He met his wife, Deanna Faber, through a mutual friend. They went to prom together but with different dates! Bob enjoyed camping with his family, working in his house and yard and square dancing with his wife. Bob and Deanna were active members of the Bucks and Does Square Dancing Club for many years where they served as treasurers. Bob's true joy in life was his family, and he was a self-proclaimed "baby hog." He was an avid animal lover who had many pets over the years and enjoyed giving treats to all the neighborhood dogs. When Bob retired from Jewel after 42 years, he and Deanna traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, all over the continental U.S. and went on several European cruises. He was kind, selfless, had a great sense of humor and will be remembered by many as the nicest man. He and his many "Dad-isms" will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Deanna Hanson, his children, Kathy (Gary) Grube, Linda (Steve) Lettecci, Michael Hanson, Pam (Marty) Summerfelt, and Jennifer (Nick) Max, his grandchildren, Samantha Hanson, Michelle (Antonio) Brunetti, Melanie Lettecci, Rachel (Andrew Wicks) Hanson, Kristin Lettecci, Nicholas (fiancé Breanna Kelly) Lettecci, and Sarah Summerfelt, and Holly the cat.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Ryan Hanson, his brother Walter James (Helga) Hanson, and his sister, Elaine (Hans) Zientz.

Linda and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I have very fond memories of your entire family and your father was always smiling and kind. May his memory be eternal Mary Leider McGowan
Our deepest sympathies to the Hanson Family. Wishing you peace and comfort as you remember this kind and gentle man.
I will always have fond memories of my Uncle Bob. He was a very happy, funny person and we had many family get togethers, especially when my cousins and I were growing up. Love to everyone, I wish I could attend.
What a wonderful person & a good lived life. Never easy but sending our prayers.
Bob was my pal and my neighbor at Del Webb. I always enjoyed seeing him and gabbing with Bob and Dee. I know our heavenly Father will welcome him home. I will surely miss seeing him.
I am so sorry to hear about your dad. He was always so kind and positive. I know this is such a difficult time for your entire family!
My deepest sympathy to Deanna and family
