Carol Ann Colby, 78, died peacefully on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at Alden Popular Creek Rehabilitation Center in Hoffman Estates.
Carol was born in Chicago on June 26, 1944, to parents August and Cecelia (nee Grosskopf) Feddersen.
In 1953 the family moved to Lake Delton Wisconsin, where her parents owned and operated a motel. Carol attended Wisconsin Dells High School and graduated in 1963. Carol liked to often reminisce about the years her family spent in the motel business and her life and times that she spent there.
In May of 1965, Carol moved with her parents back to Chicago where she took a job in the collection department for a credit card company. During this time, she met Gerald Colby. The couple married in May of 1968 and were blessed with two children, David and Cathy.
Carol had a big heart and was always willing to help others and give generously if she could. Carol had been an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Huntley. She loved her church and was proud of the fact that she was their first woman usher. Carol also served in the church Altar Guild. She enjoyed playing bingo and was a member of the Huntley Senior Citizens Group. Carol had a great sense of humor and loved to dance.
Carol is survived by her son David Colby, her grandchildren, Sydney and Joshua Whiting, her son-in-law Brian Whiting, sister-in-law Jolene Feddersen, cousins Geraldine (Don) Adriansen, Glen (Jennifer) Grosskopf, nephew Dale (Rachel) Feddersen, niece Kristi (Jeff) Holthaus and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was also survived by Kristy Schultze, who cared for Carol daily when her family could not.
Carol was preceded in death by her daughter Cathy Whiting, her parents August and Cecelia Feddersen, and her brother Lawrence “Larry” Feddersen.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 26, 2023, from 11:00am to time of service 12:00pm all at Trinity Lutheran Church, 11008 N. Church Street, Huntley.
Inurnment will be private at Irving Park Cemetery, Chicago.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Carol’s name may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church.
