Wayne G. Bauer, 90, of Huntley, died peacefully on Saturday, May 13, 2023.
Wayne was born in Blue Island on March 18, 1933, to parents Paul and Berneice (nee Shiveler) Bauer. He met Carol Grandchamp at his sister’s bowling league and the couple was married on June 20, 1959. Wayne taught in Glencoe, Illinois for over 20 years, before becoming an adjunct professor at Indiana University School of Education. Wayne was a dedicated family man. He and his wife Carol took great pride in all of their children being college graduates. He was a loving father and a very fun grandpa and great grandpa. He was an accomplished pianist as well as being a skilled woodworker. Wayne will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Carol Bauer, his children, Diana (Judy Crooks) Bauer, Linda (Steve) Power, Craig (Debbie) Bauer, Gayle (Ron) Senci, and Leslie Bauer, his grandchildren, Austin, Katelyn, Melissa, Faith, Jacob, Kelsey, Lindsey, Haley, Mackenzie, Ryan, and Alyssa, his great-grandchildren, Ella, Hazel, Beckett, and another on the way, and his sister, Joyce Bauer.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Glenn “Buzz” Bauer, David Bauer, and Paul Bauer, and his sister, Donna Goodrich.
Services were private at DeFiore Funeral Home.
