Malti Arvind Shah, 87, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away from respiratory failure on Sunday, May 21, 2023, while visiting India with her husband. She passed at the home of close family members and was surrounded by loved ones.
Malti defined unconditional love. She saw the good in everyone she met and the positive in every situation. Her kind and gentle heart, her warm smile, her enduring positive attitude, and loving spirit will be missed by her family and by the numerous friends she developed over her many years in the United States and India.
Malti was born on August 19, 1936 in Nadiad India and grew up there surrounded by her three brothers, and many nieces & nephews. After a traditional Indian arranged engagement, she married Arvind Mohanlal Shah in 1960 and their marriage defined true love for 63 years. As newlyweds, they immigrated to the United States and raised two children, Tripti Shah Kasal and Rajer Arvind Shah.
After many years of living in Addison, Illinois, she and Arvind moved to Huntley’s Sun City community in 2001 and started a new life as active “retirees”. She quickly became a frequent participant in many of the community's social activities. She was often seen walking around the community, always with a smile on her face and holding hands with Arvind.
Malti is survived by her husband, Arvind, her children, Tripti & Rajer, grandchildren, Evan Kasal, Quinn Kasal, Hailey Shah, and Justin Shah and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 9-12 with a service at 10:00 at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. The funeral Mass will be live streamed at https://www.facebook.com/defiorefuneral/

I have yet to meet another person, as sweet, simple, loving, innocent, with not a negative strain in her. She was soft spoken and always hugged me and Navin when we met. Arvind and Malti were extremely devoted to each other. Arvind Shah took utmost care of Malti, and I hope that he can adjust to a life without her with the support of the many genuine, caring friends that they have. Malti and Arvind have raised two wonderful and very accomplished children and the parents took pride in them. Their decision to live in the 55 plus Suncity was a source of immense pleasure to both. Malti was a regular swimmer and a bachi ball player. We have attended many a party in their warm and welcoming home. Malti you will be sorely missed by us and our group. Little did we know, when we met a month back for lunch that it would be our last meeting with you. May you find eternal peace.
We so value you and Malti's friendship for almost 59 years. We will miss her, May she rest in peace, Love from Jay and Elaine.
