Somphou Saengvilay , 69 years of age, of Elgin, Illinois passed away May 28th, 2023. He was born May 4th, 1954 in Sayaboury, Luang Prabang, Laos. He was married to his wife for over 40 years. He is survived by his wife Khamsay, children, Eddie, Sanita “Tata” and husband, Derek, Jeffery, and grandson, Otis. He attended teacher college in Prague when he was 19 years old. He, his wife and son were accepted as refugees to live in America in 1984. They were refugees in Thailand for 2 years. He worked as a custodian in a high school for over 30 years. He enjoyed and stressed the importance of education to his family. During his lifetime, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. He visited the states of Wisconsin, Missouri, Florida, Michigan, Virginia, New York, California, and Nevada. He traveled to countries including Laos, Thailand, South Korea, Guatemala, Moldova, Belgium, and Czech Republic. He also enjoyed playing tennis, gardening, and fixing up the house. He and his wife frequently attended and supported the local Lao temple.

Very sad to hear that a great and kind human has been removed from us. He is among the greats now.
