I was surprised today, by an announcement of Tim’s death this past June. I’ve not had contact with Tim for several years, so wasn’t aware he he had been ill. In prior years, we had become friends playing bridge together in a variety of Crystal Lake groups, so I’m well aware of what a nice man he was, ever the gentleman, & how well-like he wax by everyone. I’m sorry to learn he’s no longer with us. He will be missed by all. My sympathies & condolences go out to all his family & friends.

Tim and I were first cousins. He and his father helped expose me to Notre Dame and its traditions when I was growing up. That exposure played a major role in my ultimately deciding to attend Notre Dame, which was one of the better decisions that I ever made. My sister Carol ended up attending, too. We don't always know how we affect others' lives, but Tim and Uncle Tim certainly affected mine.
