Ignatius "Iggy" Chmura, 92, of Huntley, died peacefully at his home on June 22, 2023.
Ignatius was born October 18, 1930 in Chicago, the son of Ignatius and Mary (nee Kotlarz) Chmura. On December 27, 1953 he married Darlene Woods.
He proudly served in the United States Marines, He enjoyed fishing and was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan. He enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
Ignatius is survived by his children, John (Liane) Chmura, and Mary (Kenneth) Franke, by his six grandchildren, Nicole (Jason) VandeBoom, Daniel (Melissa) Chmura, Matthew Chmura, Brian Franke, Andrea Franke, and Jayson Franke, and by his four great grandchildren, Jackson, Alexander, Zoe, and Harper.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene, by his siblings, Eleanor, Florence, Loretta, Rosemary, Frank, Bruno, Ted, and Henry .
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 9-10am with a Mass being celebrated at 10am all at St. Mary Catholic Church-10307 Dundee Road, Huntley.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Smile Train.
