Barbara R. Roxworthy

Obituary

Barbara Roxworthy, 86, of Huntley, IL formerly of Lac du Flambeau, WI died on July 28, 2023.Barb was born in Libertyville, IL on October 28, 1936, to parents Raymond and Ruth (nee Wiemuth) Daley. She married her high school sweetheart James Roxworthy on October 22, 1955. During their 66 years of marriage, Barb and Jim lived in Alaska, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin. While living in Wisconsin, Barb enjoyed volunteering at the Thrift Store in Minocqua run by her church St. Matthias’. Barb always enjoyed time spent with her family and planning the next meal she would cook for them. If she wasn’t preparing a meal for her family she was likely feeding and caring for their dogs. She loved reading whether it was on her patio in the sunshine; while riding in the car with Jim on vacation; or after dinner relaxing by a warm fire. Outside she enjoyed putzing in her flower garden. Inside she spent many hours decorating her home for the next holiday with meticulously selected and arranged silk flowers and knick-knacks. But always and without a doubt her greatest joy was being a wife, mom, grandma and great grandma.
Barb is survived by her loving children, Michael (Pam) Roxworthy, Cindy (Michael) Malloy, Richard (Heather) Roxworthy, her daughter-in-law, Cindi Roxworthy, her 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband James, their son, David Roxworthy, her parents Raymond and Ruth Daley and her infant brother Robert Daley.
Visitation will be at 10:00 am, Friday August 11 at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. Followed by mass at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley.

Barb was my dear friend for 80 years. We attended grade school and high school together and shared all the teenage memories together. Her cousin, Ken McGill, and I were married a month prior to Barb and Jim and were lifetime friends. I will miss my friend and pray for her family during this time of grief.
