Scott A. Corbin

Obituary

In Loving Memory of Scott Andrew Corbin
Scott Andrew Corbin, 68, of Union, IL, passed away peacefully at his home on July 29, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 26, 1955, in Bedford, Indiana, and his presence left an indelible mark on those who knew him.
Scott was a devoted husband, having celebrated 40 cherished years of marriage with his beloved wife, Patti (nee O’Connell), whom he married in 1983.
One of Scott's greatest passions in life was golf, finding joy in every aspect of the sport, from playing on the greens to watching tournaments, including his peak golfing experience at Pebble Beach. The camaraderie of the game was something he treasured, especially the moments spent with friends at the "19th hole."
Throughout his life, Scott possessed an unyielding zest for life, embracing each day with infectious enthusiasm and making the most of every moment. Even as Frontotemporal dementia took hold, he never lost his positive outlook, kindness, or the ability to give his signature thumbs up. Known as the “bike guy” at Christmas time, he would donate bikes to the Salvation Army, and would think of the little boys and girls getting their first bikes with a big red bow on them, on Christmas morning. This tradition was passed on to him from his dad, Bob, the other “bike guy’ in Indiana.
Scott leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his loving wife, Patti, his daughters Christy Corbin and Kimberly (Dan) Happel, as well as his two grandsons Brayden and Jackson, who brought him immense pride and joy in his favorite role as Papaw.
He is also survived by his brother Doug (Lois) Corbin and sister Cara Widmeyer, with whom he shared a lifetime of treasured moments.
While mourning his loss, the family finds comfort in knowing that Scott has been reunited with his parents, Charles Robert “Bob” and Jane Corbin, and his granddaughter Cora, who have preceded him in death.
Scott Corbin touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed by family, friends, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. As we bid farewell to Scott, we take solace in the enduring memories of his vibrant spirit and the joy he brought into our lives.

A memorial service to celebrate Scott's life will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023, at DeFiore Funeral Home 10763 Dundee Rd, Huntley, IL, from 4-7 p.m., with a service at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (TheAFTD.org) in Scott's memory.
