Uncle Fred was unfailingly kind, loyal and generous. His love for Liz and Roman was evident in every moment of his life. While we all still wish that he was sitting and chatting about the Cubs or Hawks, the impact he made on all of us will go on. We will miss him.

Uncle Fred made an everlasting mark on me. He was a giant of a man with a heart to match. From the moment he started dating aunt Liz he took us kids on as family. My first hockey games were with Fred watching the Blackhawks struggle against Detroit back im the day. He taught me about the game and never turned down my constant requests for snacks. When hockey season was over he took me to cubs games. So many great memories and great sports conversations. The real thrill was the drive home where Fred maneuvered the city streets and highways with the skill and ease of a racecar driver. I guess that never really left him. It terrified some but I used to encourage it to be honest…after that he let me in a fantasy hockey league with some of his friends. I never did as well as him but he loved to help me through my roster decisions and help me whenever he could, taking real joy in me doing well, especially against his rivals…he was a wonderful man, a wonderful father, husband and uncle and a wonderful friend. It’s not fair. I will miss you. I will miss our conversations. But I know you will be there in all of the big moments in life, especially in Chicago sports. I will see you there, uncle Fred.

Fred was a great man. He will be missed terribly. He was always a light at our family functions, and was always a pleasure to be around. His kindness, his love for his family, and his quiet strength were a lesson to us. He was wonderful to talk with about music, travel, sports, or almost any subject. We are so sorry for you loss, Roman and Liz. We grieve with you in this impossible time.

Liz and Roman, I'm so sorry for your loss. I will miss him dearly. He was a special person and friend. There's so many things that I will miss and especially his companionship. That was something that was years in the making. I'm sorry I couldn't be there. Thinking of you and Roman and saying prayers. May God bless you and comfort you and Roman.

Fred was our brother-in-law by marriage, but he was our friend by choice. When Liz first introduced us to Fred, we knew she had found her soulmate. He quickly blended in with Liz's extended family and would liven up family get togethers with discussions on sports and politics. But his favorite subject was his family. He was devoted to Liz and Roman. His face would light up when he talked of Roman's activities and accomplishments. He was so proud. Although we often discussed the Cubs and Bears (not so much the Sox), it was Fred that brought the Blackhawks back into our lives. We are grateful for that. The memories we have will keep us smiling in the years to come. We will miss him.

I met Fred though a mutual friend, going to a few Blackhawks Games, then some Cubs Games, and even a concert. I loved Fred's passion for his teams, along with his fun sense of humor. He always gives me chuckle with his short snippet text messages and his nicknames. He is gone way too soon, and I wish I could go one more Cubs game with him......My heart goes out to everyone in his family.
