Obituary

Kenneth J. Sturtecky, 81, of Huntley, passed away on October 21, 2023. Ken was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 16, 1942. He graduated from Lyons Township High School in 1961. Ken married his soulmate Lynne Bluder on October 5, 1963, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Brookfield, Illinois. The couple shared over 60 years of happy memories together. Ken was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He looked forward to watching and cheering on his children, and later in life his grandchildren at their sporting events. Ken enjoyed playing pickle ball, water volleyball, and board games in his spare time. He loved boating and dragging Lynne to classic car shows whenever the opportunity arose. Early in their marriage travel and camping was a passion for his family, he loved anything that brought them together. Ken retired from General Motors Electromotive Division. After retiring he and Lynne traveled the world falling in love with Mexico where they would go twice a year. In the winter months Ken and Lynne would travel to Florida to avoid the cold. Those who knew Ken will miss him dearly.

Ken is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Lynne Sturtecky, his children Kenneth (Michele) Sturtecky, Jeffrey (Brigit) Sturtecky, Steve (Nancy) Sturtecky, grandchildren Amber (Jonathan) Ford, Sara, Hannah, Emma, Ali, Adam, Abby, great grandson Bennett Ford, sister-in-laws June (Mike) Silder, Nancy (Steve) Tomany, Pam (Jim) Viscariello, Alice (Rick) Watkins, his brother Ron Sturtecky along with his many nieces and nephews.

Ken is proceeded in death by his daughter Jennifer, his adored in-laws Ken and Adele Bluder who he loved deeply, and parents Alfred Sturtecky and Lillian Gross.

A service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Huntley at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2023. The service will be followed by a Celebration of Life Open House at Boulder Ridge Country Club in Lake in the Hills, 350 Boulder Drive, Lake in the Hills. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kenneth’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church located at 11008 N. Church St Huntley, IL 60142.

Mike and I loved getting to know Ken through water volleyball and pickleball in Florida. Such a fun guy who will live on in our happy memories of time spent together. Our heartfelt sympathy to Lynne and all his family.

So sorry to hear of Ken’s passing. It is not easy no matter how old someone is. He was a very loving man. I had the pleasure of meeting him in Fort Myers as my grandparents Joe & Joyce Frasca would often be at the pool the same time Ken and Lynne would be at the pool. The front pool of course with the hot tub! I also had the pleasure of having Ali as an intern at the zoo, what a small world. I know your grandpa loved you so much Ali, hang in there ❤️

We are so sorry for your loss. Our condolences to the entire Sturtecky family. We remember Ken as full of life and easy to talk to. We enjoyed seeing him at Steve and Nancy's house for family or holiday celebrations throughout the years. We hope happy memories of Ken help ease the pain of his loss. Our hearts are with you.
