Richard Frank Lessner, Sr., 89, of Huntley, died peacefully on November 6, 2023, in Arlington Heights with his family by his side.
Rich was born in Chicago on September 20, 1934, to parents Frank and Josephine (nee Roth) Lessner. Rich married his high school sweetheart Denise Reisel on April 16, 1955, and together the couple raised their four children. Rich was a dedicated and hard worker and worked in construction for twenty-five years and was a proud member of the Chicago Carpenters Union. He and Denise loved to travel, and the pair enjoyed many cruises and visits to their timeshare in St. Martin. Rich was a lifelong fan and season ticket holder of the Chicago Bears, and also loved the Chicago Cubs. He put his family first, and nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rich was incredibly strong-willed, and until the very end, he did it his way.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Denise Lessner, his children, Richard “Dick” (Erin) Lessner, Jr., Kathleen Lessner, and Mary Brown, his grandchildren, Heather (Charles), Derek, Ashley (Travis), Amanda (Dan), Kevin (Gabby), and Brandianne, his great-grandchildren, Emma, Dominic, Lucas, Elijah, Cayden, Adam, Hannah, Olivia, Ben, Michael, and Audi, his siblings, Jeanette Doss, and Philip (Elizabeth) Lessner, and his daughter-in-law, Tami Lessner.
He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Lessner.
Visitation will be Monday, November 13, 2023, from 4 p.m. to time of prayers 6:30 p.m. all at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.
Mass will be Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at 10 a.m. with a visitation the hour prior, all at St. Mary Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley.
