Sandra Cooper, 81 of Huntley, passed away peacefully with family by her side, on November 19, 2023.
Sandra was born on November 18, 1942, the daughter of Howard and Ruth (Hallett) Gitzke. She married the love of her life Kenneth Cooper and the couple had been married for 60 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
Sandra was a big-hearted person who was always there to lend a helping hand to those around her. She cared deeply for her friends and family. Sandy enjoyed going out to social gatherings, playing bunco, Sunday morning breakfasts, traveling with friends and family, and had a great passion for reading (she always had a book in her hand, sometimes two!). Sandra was a volunteer at St. Mary’s Church and for Friends of the “Huntley” Library. She loved the oldies, especially Elvis to whom she enjoyed dancing to (as long as it didn’t mess up her hair). Those who knew Sandra will miss her dearly.
Sandra is survived by her daughters; Terri (Steve) Gervasi, Lori (Paul) Caccippio Traci (Chuck) Connors, her 8 grandchildren; Nick, Renee, Kristi, Kevin, Charlie, Tom, Jenny, Robert along with her 3 great-grandchildren Wesley, Owen and Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Cooper, her sister Nancy Murrell and parents Howard and Ruth (Hallett) Gitzke.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 9:00am until the 10:00am followed by Mass all at St. Mary Catholic Church-10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. Inurnment will be at St. Mary Cemetery.

I am deeply saddened to hear the news of Sandy’s passing. My heart goes out to all of you during this difficult time Sandy was a wonderful neighbor and friend.
I have the fondest memories of Sandy and Ken, and always enjoyed going to their house as a kid. Always welcoming, funny and I'm sure great food too. And love how our families still stay in touch and help so much when needed! We'll miss you Sandy!
We will miss Sandy so much. She and Ken were great friends. Playing cards, going to breakfast after church, and having fun together. Love ❤️ you and will miss you.
It was an honor and Privilege Ms Sandy. I will think of you when I take our trip to Paris. May you be among the angels who will receive me when my time comes and we dance to Elvis one more time. Love and light to the family and friends
We saw them almost every month growing up. What a great couple. Our prayers are with S andy and her Family.
It was great knowing you Sandi as well as Ken. You were aways smiling and had kind words for everyone. Hope we meet again when my time comes. Let your Angels lead you to sunshine and happiness with Ken. I know that your family will be alright just knowing you are home and at peace.
I am saddened by learning that Sandra has passed. Ken and Sandra were a big part of our social life going away weekends out to dinner and going to Europe. I lost my wife Judy after 59 years of marriage last year. I pray for Ken and Sandy to rest in peace. I have many memories of our time together and surely will miss their presence.
Sandy was the sweetest most gentle lady . Always had a smile and such a gentle voice. A beautiful lady, friend and neighbor. A new Angel has winged her way to Heaven
