Thomas Joseph Browne Sr., 92, of Lake in the Hills, died peacefully on November 21, 2023, in Huntley.
Tom was born in Chicago on March 20, 1931, to parents James Sr. and Anne (nee Lydon) Browne. He married Mildred Walsh on January 4, 1964; the pair met while both worked at Sears. Together Tom and Millie raised four children in Hillside where they resided for 32 years. They were blessed with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A devoted family man, there was nothing he wouldn’t do for his loved ones. Tom was an avid crossword enthusiast, loved reading the daily newspaper, and listening to Big Band Jazz music. He was a proud supporter of his favorite Chicago Teams (Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls, and White Sox). Tom was generous, selfless, and incredibly loyal. He will be missed dearly and remembered fondly by all who knew him.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mildred Browne, his children, Thomas Jr. (Kerin) Browne, Paul (Nicole) Browne, Ellen (John) Kiolbassa, and Kevin (Jacqueline) Browne, his grandchildren, Ryan Kiolbassa, Allison Browne, Brett Kiolbassa, Connor Browne, Nina Browne, and Natalie Browne, his great-grandchildren, Landon, Finn, and Isabella, and his siblings Therese Schenfeld, and John Browne. Tom was a fond uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Mary Browne, James Browne Jr., Veronica Travers, and Michael Browne; his brothers-in-law, Raymond Schenfeld and Vincent Travers; and his sister-in-law, Alyce Browne.
