Martin R. Buganski

Obituary

Martin Raymond Buganski, 68, passed away peacefully at his home on November 26, 2023.
Born on April 15, 1955, Martin was the beloved son of Marion Mitchell and Loretta Buganski. On August 8th, 1975, he married the love of his life, Gail J. Walsh. The couple first met at Sears while working during high school. Martin’s journey led him to work as a skilled tool and die maker and later as a talented tile setter.
During the formative years of his children, Martin embraced the joys of family life. He played racquetball, cherished family boating outings, and made breakfasts that became treasured moments. An enthusiast for classic muscle cars, Martin found fulfillment in restoring these vehicles. His catchphrase, “I’ve got a deal for you,” echoed his passion for sharing his interests.
Known for his good sense of humor and playful spirit, Martin was a jokester who brightened the lives of those around him. His love for card games, fishing, and spending quality time with friends were testaments to his sociable nature.
Martin is survived by his devoted wife, Gail, and his loving daughters, Brenda (Matt) Sullivan, Colleen (Anand) Buganski, and Kelsey Smith. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Erik (Melissa), Darren, Madelyn, Vikram, Anika, Wrigley, and Lincoln, as well as his great-grandson, Hunter. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Dean and his sister, Eleanor.
A visitation in Martin’s honor will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, followed by a service at 7:00pm, all at DeFiore Funeral Home – 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be made to Lurie Children’s Hospital.
