In Memoriam: James G. Dunn (1936-2023)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James G. Dunn, who departed this world peacefully at his home on December 7, 2023. Jim, as he was affectionately known, leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a life well-lived.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Kathy, and his daughters, Kim and Elizabeth. He took great pride being a grandfather to McKensie, Whitley, Emerson, and Reece. Jim also leaves behind two sisters, Kathy (Ed) and Janet (Robert). He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Audry, and sisters Julie and Mary, along with Mary's husband, Jim.
Growing up in Bay City, Michigan, Jim's journey took him far and wide.
After attending Eastern Michigan University, he dedicated a portion of his life to serving in the Navy, where he sailed the Pacific aboard various ships. Jim later transitioned to a successful career in the moveable wall businesses and enjoyed 30 years with Hufcor Inc. in Janesville, Wisconsin, ultimately retiring as a Vice President. His professional endeavors took him around the globe, allowing him to embrace diverse cultures and forge lasting friendships.
Jim was a true adventurer at heart, relishing the exploration of different corners of the world. His passion for meeting people, sharing stories, and savoring the richness of various cultures was evident in every step he took. A man of warmth and congeniality, Jim effortlessly made friends wherever he went, often bonding over shared meals and a cold beer.
An avid golfer, Jim continued to pursue his love for the sport, staying active and engaged even in retirement. He maintained a positive outlook on life, embodying the philosophy that one should "Always look on the bright side of life." This optimism endeared him to many and left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at DaVita Dialysis in Huntley for their unwavering support during Jim's final days.
A Mass in memory of Jim will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Huntley, followed by a private burial ceremony. In honoring Jim's spirit, let us remember him as a beacon of positivity, a lover of life, and a dear friend to many.
