Charles “Chuck” Petersen, 79, of Huntley, died peacefully on January 19, 2024, with his family by his side.
Chuck was born in Elmhurst on February 17, 1944, to parents Elmer and Duella (nee Christiansen) Petersen. He met Sandra Peterson at a bowling alley and the couple were married on August 8, 1964, in Des Plaines.
Chuck was a diligent electrician and a proud member of Union IBEW Local 701. He worked hard to provide for his family and would do anything for anyone. He was the neighborhood handyman and never turned anyone away who needed help. His home had an open door where everyone was welcome. Chuck enjoyed golf and bowling with his close friends and tinkering in the garage. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Chuck is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Sandra Petersen, his two children, Christine “Tina” (David) Ahrens, and Timothy “Tim” (Catherine) Petersen, his grandchildren, Austin (Renee) Petersen, Reese Petersen, Nicholas Ahrens, and Samantha Ahrens, his great-grandson, Jaxen, his sister, Dorothy Petersen, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Donald Petersen, Patricia (Norm) Stevens, Robert (Doren) Petersen, and Richard Petersen.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 23, 2024, from 4 p.m. to time of service 7 p.m. all at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley, IL.

So sorry for your loss Sandy. Keeping you and your family in my thought and prayers, he had a smile that could light up a room. My God hold him in his arms and that he finds eternal peace. And I was thinking Sandy, that Heaven did gain a one of the best, handyman as we all know it's hard to find a good one and I think God did pick the best. May he rest in peace.
We knew Chuck by his participation as electrician for Shepherd of the Prairie and were surprised to learn that he was our nearby neighbor. Chuck was for us a cheerful, thoughtful man, and by reputation was known as our neighborhood handyman. Our love goes out to you Sandy, and your family.
RIP dear friend! We will always cherish the friendship we have had all these years! We will miss you dearly!!
