Richard Joseph Nelson, 79, died peacefully on January 22, 2024, with his family by his side.
Richard was born in Chicago on November 7, 1945, to parents Herman and Anne (nee Bell) Nelson. He met Mary Stanley on a blind date and the couple married on May 11, 1965.
Richard is survived by his children, Steven (Melissa) Nelson and Christmas (Peter Wollert) Nelson, his grandchildren, Robert Krug IV, Zachary Nelson, Jonathan (fiancé Alexander Smessaert) Krug, and Charlotte Nelson, and his brother James Nelson.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Mary Nelson.
Visitation will be Friday, January 26, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a time to share stories at 7 p.m. all at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.
