Susan Scully Frihart

Obituary

Susan Scully Frihart, 76, of Marengo, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2024.
Sue was born May 3, 1947, the daughter of Victor and Dolores Scully. On May 3, 1968 she married Terry Frihart. During her life she had various careers, including a telephone operator and receptionist. She was a bus driver for the Huntley School District and secretary at First Congregational Church before becoming a rural mail carrier, a job she held for over 20 years. After her retirement from the Post Office, she and Terry moved to Marengo where she worked in the deli department at Sullivan’s Foods, a job she took just to stay busy, but she loved. Her most favorite job was that of Mom.
She was an active devoted member of First Congregational Church and enjoyed being part of the handbell choir and teaching Sunday School. Family was what made her happiest. She enjoyed family vacations, especially going to the beach in South Carolina. Any time she could spend with family & friends was a good time. She had a passion for her horse, Ginger and her dog, Jazzi.
Sue was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Terry, of 55 years, her children, Tracy Frihart, and Dayna (Ryan) Syphers, her granddaughters, Brittany, Alyssa, and Zoe, sister-in-law, Beth (Kirk) Husser, nieces, Andrea, Laura and Shelly, great niece, Lilly, and nephews, Ronnie, Randy, and Michael.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Don, and her sons, Kevin and Quinn.
A visitation will be held on Monday February 5, 2024 from 4-8pm at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley with a memorial service at 7pm. Sue’s horse Ginger lived directly across from my horse Red. I had the pleasure of seeing Sue ride and take care of her horse. She always made me smile. My deepest condolences to Sue’s family and friends. She will be missed.
