Joan Demonica, 83, of Huntley, passed away on February 5, 2024.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 30, 1940, to parents Abraham and Anna (Paryl) Nelson. She fell in love with Dominick Demonica while attending a family wedding, and they married soon after. During their nearly 62 years of marriage, Joan was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She adored her family, and as a breast cancer survivor who never gave up, her “tough‐love” approach to raising her children will provide them with invaluable life lessons that will be passed on for generations. Throughout the years, Joan enjoyed her close circle of friends, and she always enjoyed catching up with them by phone, over lunch, or during a friendly game of Mahjong. Everybody that knew Joan knew her as someone who always spoke her mind and who loved to spend time with her family and friends more than anything else. She will be missed dearly.
Joan is survived by her beloved children Renee (Norm) Ritzel, Dominick Demonica, Kristine (Pete) Flores; her cherished grandchildren Lauren, Emma (Brant), Eric (Molly) and Kate; and her sisters Barbara (Alfred) Fricano, Rosetta Chamberlain, and Shirley Sureck.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband Dominick Demonica, her parents Abraham and Anna (Paryl) Nelson, and her sister Marilyn (George) Coticchio.
Vistation will be Friday, February 16, 2024 from 9 a.m. to time of mass 10 a.m. all at St. Mary Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley.
Inurnment to follow mass at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine.

She lived a full fruitful life and has her beautiful children and grandchildren to remember her.
I am so sorry for your loss. We lived next door to Joan and Dominic. We did not really know them well as we had just moved in to the neighborhood. But both Joan and Dominic were warm and welcoming as we moved into our new life in Sun City. Our deepest condolences on the loss of both your parents.
I’m so sorry for your loss. I remember that Joan loved visiting with family and friends.
