Christopher D. “Chris” Lozier, 79, of Huntley, died February 9, 2024 after a brief illness.
Chris was born December 17, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late Theodore and Jane (nee Sheffer) Lozier. He attended Willoughby South High School in Willoughby Hills, Ohio, where he was a member of the ‘61-’62 basketball conference championship team, whose achievements are still celebrated at the school today. He later graduated from Miami of Ohio University and was a proud Redhawk. He was dedicated to his career as a guidance counselor, dispensing advice to students at NIU, Kishwaukee Community College, and McHenry County College, while spending the majority of his career at Elgin Community College. He was a member of the Elgin Master Choral Union for over 20 years and performed with the group regularly until 2019. Chris had an amazing passion and talent for ceramics, dedicating much time and effort in creating his works of art. Chris enjoyed traveling, particularly to Santa Fe, New Mexico and was a great admirer of the pottery and art of the area. He was also an avid reader and could often be found in one of his favorite places, his recliner, reading science fiction or one of a multitude of newspapers he had delivered daily. From that same chair, he enjoyed cheering on Chicago sports teams, especially the Bulls. His greatest love (after his chair) was his family, who remember him as a generous and caring person who lived an amazing life. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, friend, and advisor who will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Jenni (Mark) Reisner, Jeff (Aurelie) Lozier, and their mother, Nancy (John) Birt, and children Kelly (Daniel) Porter, Patrick Lozier, and their mother, Terri (Paul Anderson) Lozier. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Devon, Hayes, Julien, August, Leo, and Harrison. He is also survived by his siblings, Mark (Georgette) Lozier and Martha (Glen) Lozier-Voss.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2024 from 12:00-4:00 with a time of sharing at 3:00 pm at DeFiore Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A memorial service will be held at a later date this summer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Friends of Huntley Library Foundation.

Chris will be missed by so many, my deepest sympathies to all who loved him, especially his children and grandchildren, and whose lives he impacted as he did mine. He was such a kind soul and helped so many people. Chris made a difference and left his mark in this world.
Chris was a terrific ceramicist and extremely fun guy!
I remember, Chris has always been a person of good cheer, and of a scientific search for the best possible pottery. He’s an inspiration to those who are also searching for the best thing. Please accept my sympathies.
Chris was a member of my Meetup group in Algonquin, and I along with many others enjoyed his company at dinners, happy hours and parties. He was always a joy to be around. One of my most cherished possessions is one of his pottery pieces which he gave to me a few years ago at a holiday party. He hadn´t been attending any events for quite some time, however, I along with others have many wonderful memories of him. RIP Chris!
Wishing you Peace in the upcoming couple months. Thought of you today and “our secret” is still not told to a soul. Miss you and your friendship to Us!! 🙏🙏👌
