Obituary

James F. McGue, 76, passed away Wednesday, August 14th followed by his wife, Barbara L. McGue, 72, on Friday, August 16, 2013 both at JourneyCare in Barrington surrounded by their family.

James was born December 10, 1936 in Chicago, the son of James E. and Cora (Smith) McGue. Barbara was born March 2, 1941 in Chicago, the daughter of Frank and Adeline (Stolarz) Beck. The two met at the Riverview roller rink. They were united in marriage on May 23, 1959. After marrying, the couple lived in Barbara’s family’s two-flat on Cortez Street in Chicago. Jim worked for American Industrial Company and later the City of Chicago Department of Water Management. Barbara stayed at home and cared for their three children before taking positions at Baran Insurance and later Michael’s Uniform Company. Jim was a member of the Teamsters, an avid Notre Dame and Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed crossword puzzles, exercising at the fitness center, fishing, movies and especially time with his family. Barbara enjoyed making home cooked meals, raising orchids, shopping and traveling in retirement. Barbara will always be known as an avid gift giver and sender of greeting cards.

They are survived by their dear children, Cheryl (Louis) Herrera of Elmhurst, Kathleen (Dave, Barb’s BFF) Liskovec of Homer Glen & James McGue of Barrington, their fond grandchildren who affectionately called them “Boppa” & “Doma”, Louie, Douglas, Zachary, Liam, David, Jessica, Gabbie & Matthew, Matthew’s mother, Anna Figueroa. Jim’s brothers, Richard (Louise) McGue, Terry McGue & Dennis (Charlotte) McGue, his sister, Joyce McGue, James’s Godchildren, Richard McGue, Brittany Collins & Liam Herrera. Barbara’s Godchild, Karen Kobylski.

Jim and Barbara will be greatly missed by their family and numerous friends. Countless lives have been touched by their acts of love and kindness.
A gathering will be held at a later date to honor and celebrate this lovely couple. Memorials may be made to Ray Graham Association, 901 Warrenville Road, Lisle – Louie Herrera Gateway SRA Fund.

I,Geri, worked with your mother at Michaels Uniforms, and spending time with her was the best part of the job. We also knew your father. The were both gracious, kind hearted people, and we are glad we were able to spend some time with them. Be assured they will both be watching over all of you. Take care of each other.

Dear McGue Family, Charlie and I offer our sincere condolences about your beautiful parents.We loved them very much as did our children.They were more the neighbors to us on Pacific Ave-the kids loved to go visit the "Christmas tree house"! Even our dog would want to visit! We will never for get Barbara's Chicken soup and all the delicious goodies she served to us.Jim was such a warm,great guy.
