Nancy Ann Heinsohn, 85, of Huntley, died peacefully on February 19, 2024.
Nancy was born in Evanston, IL on May 18, 1938, to parents Everett and Mildred Barlow.
Nancy raised three children in Glenview, IL where she built a strong community and life-long friendships.
Nancy married James “Jim” Heinsohn on November 14,1987. Together they loved traveling with the quest to see every national park throughout the US in their motorhome, fondly known as the Holiday Inn on wheels. She especially enjoyed bringing her grandchildren on trips and taking a passion in their interests. She was an avid baker and loved to share her recipes and expertise in the kitchen with her daughters and grandchildren.
Nancy loved her family and had a positive attitude and steadfast presence through every adversity she or her family faced. Her family remembers her wisdom and witty pieces of advice that allowed space for laughter, thought, and for them to make their own decisions. She created homes wherever life took her, from traveling in the motorhome, retirement home in Florida and then back in Illinois. Her ability to multitask, pack a suitcase perfectly and laugh as she schooled her grandchildren in Dominoes are the lasting memories she has left behind.
She was a thoughtful, kind, beautiful, and loving woman in everything she did. Nancy made memories for so many to cherish and hold. Those memories will always have a special place within our hearts. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Jim Heinsohn. Her children, Jim (Connie) Johnson, Sherry Connett, and Laura (Steven) Pittner, Jim’s children, Barbara (Gerry Ladubec) Heinsohn, and Beth (John) Swan, her grandchildren, Krista (Geoff), Jeff, Meghan (Scott), Deva, Charlie, James, Brenda, John, James, (Kelsey), and Bill (Carly), and her 18 great- grandchildren.
